When you listen to the tunes with headphones on, there two slightly different pitched frequencies. Each frequency goes to each of your ears independently. Your brain responds by creating a third tone, making up the difference between the two frequencies. This shift in frequency is what shifts your brain’s consciousness and changes your state.

If you are a beginner (this includes me) find different tunes to listen to, and play them everyday for 15 minutes. I usually do homework, make food, write and or clean my room.
Since I have not been using binaural beats for a long period of time, I can't say I have had any effects other than feeling relaxed over a longer period of time!
But after reading a lot about it, some of its benefits include less stress, increased productiveness, confidence, wake you up easier and make you fall asleep faster!
