Negative thoughts, being sad, anxiety, stress... Bad feelings that get under your skin and live inside you. I'm going to give you my personal guide of how I overcome negativity. ★When you find yourself with a negative mindset, find a solution★
Create your own sacred space, for me, it’s my room. I play some good old rock and roll on my record player, light some candles, open my balcony to let fresh air come in, and then I take as many pillows as I can and lay on the floor and breath. Listening to music while laying on the floor relaxes my mind instantly.
Everyone has a different sacred space, it can be in the arms of a certain person or your favorite café. Find it and don’t let it go, it’s your little safe heaven.
★Don’t let your mind play tricks on you★
Don’t take things too seriously, that is kind of difficult for me, it’s something I need to remind myself every day. People don’t care that much about what you say or do, trust me. That person is most likely not looking at your acne. If your hair is dirty today, probably only one person will notice. If someone is looking at you it is probably because they think you’re cute. And in the hypothetical case, someone says something mean to you, take it as a compliment and roll with it. Don’t get too stuck in the negative ideas of your daily life.
★Do things that make you happy★
After a hard day all I want to do is lay in bed and cry, but honey, that’s not a great idea. Don’t dwell in pain. Keep those negative thoughts away by entertaining yourself. I personally love going to the forest with my dog. A place where I have no signal so I’m not tempted to look at my phone.
★Write those thoughts down★
Yes, here comes the cliché part of journaling will help you, BUT IT’S TRUE! Write your thoughts down, transform your negativity into words, and if you’re dramatic like me write a letter to the person who captivates your every thought and then burn it.
★Breathe, it’s just temporal★
Like the quote says, “not everything lasts forever, not even your problems”. If someone has cheated on you, well their lost, you’ll find someone who will love you with all their heart. If you fail an exam, that’s okay, it’s a piece of paper. If you’re feeling sad for no reason, hey don’t worry, it happens to the best of us.
