Listen to while reading: La Meg, Okay Kaya
Lately I've felt inspired by the earthy color tones and grittiness of old photographs and movie stills; Female students at the Polytechnical University in Kabul, Afghanistan, mid 1970s. Pauline at the beach by Éric Rohmer. 1983. Laetitia Casta. 1995. Women boarding a bus in Mashhad. 1996. Lovers at a church next to Fontana di Trevi. Rome. 1984.
All of this in contrast to modern photos packed with vibrant colors as well as crisp and clean details. Dazed Korea. Glossy and geometrical eyeshadow. A baby-pink moth. And not giving a fuck whether you have hairy arms, a soft belly or scars beneath your chest.
